ABOUT US / OUR HISTORY Continued ...
This website, Tourist Guide Covering South Africa, abbreviated as TGCSA, (Not to be confused with the Government's new Tourism Grading Council of SA with the same abbreviation) is a new sister site assisting with the marketing of all accommodation venues, drawing its listings from our main South African database website: www.Accommodation.co.za
Eventually, from starting off with backpackers venues and places right on the beach, we decided to campaign for all kinds of accommodations, and not just backpackers. Thinking back now over the years, the main reason why we started with backpackers is because of the apartheid system, which made it very difficult to find lots of suitable accommodation for all race groups. Additionally, most of the backpackers were on a shoe-string budget and could not afford any other kind of accommodation. Hotel accommodation was out of the question!
Anyway, slowly but surely our name got out into the market place, mainly then by word of mouth, brochures or flyers, and even placing the odd newspaper advert. Internet had not come to South Africa when we started, so marketing ourselves was still an expensive
exercise. We also had different names that we would use for different holiday periods, so that we could see how our advertising campaign worked out.
We would use catchy names on our flyers like, Holiday Accommodation, Leisure Holidays, Durban Holidays or KZN Holidays, (as we are based in Durban/ KZN), Backpacker Holidays, Camping Holidays, Camping & Caravan trips, we used all kinds of names as titles on our leaflets, and distributed these at airports, in the harbour, and even in posh Hotels, to spread the word that we were around for good, affordable holidays.
Yes, in those days we had a relatively small group of accommodation establishments, and now we are well known, especially since we have created our main database website which is aptly named: www.Accommodation.co.za
This website, Tourist Guide Covering South Africa, abbreviated as TGCSA, (Not to be confused with the Government's new Tourism Grading Council of SA with the same abbreviation), is a relatively new idea, although we have had the
abbreviation
tgcsa.co.za internet domain name 'pointing ' or 're-directing' to our alternative and main website: www.Accommodation.co.za for several years now.
In the years that followed, we faced the ever-changing task of deciding on a final website design/ development for this sister website, to work hand-in-hand with Accommodation.co.za, in respect to marketing the various accommodation venues in South Africa such as Hotels, Lodges, Guest Houses, B&B's, Bed and Breakfast, Self Catering, ...etc., in all the provinces of South Africa, namely: Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, and Western Cape.
*One of our clients - Mr. Al Stanford-Smyth, a Dutch citizen living in SA, who travels and works a lot in Europe/ Holland is still listed with us, since as far back as 1995, and now has his own website, having just upgraded his Self Catering accommodation venue in Morningside, Durban/ KZN ... Establishment name - 'GoldersGreen.'
( Visit his website at www.Goldersgreen.co.za.)
Additionally, we have a portfolio of over 600 logical, generic, key Tourism & Accommodation type internet names pointing to ... and promoting our main Accommodation.co.za website, which in turn promotes numerous venues of South Africa, including yours if you're on board, that is... if not... why not join us now! You deserve to!
Soon we will be concentrating a lot more on the surrounding states.
Let's promote South Africa together - Join us! Show the World what you have to offer in S.A. / South Africa. |
